Vanessa Paradis Graces 'Jalouse' September Issue

French model, singer, actress and all-around lovely person, Vanessa Paradis, graces the September issue of Jalouse magazine looking, well, tres French. Sporting a navy beret, waistcoat, and underpinnings, she literally explodes off the page. We don't know what her secret is (French facial cremes? Beautiful children? The good life?) but she continues to astonish with those blue eyes, arched brows, and gap-tooth adorned visage. Makeup artist Christophe Danchaud kept the look highlighted yet subdued with smokey eyes, contoured cheeks, and pale lips. We say, "Magnifique!" to it all...

Ezra Miller Stands Out in 'Paper' Magazine

This is going to be Ezra Miller's year. We're not the only ones who think so, either. After mass critical (and audience) acclaim for his role as a psychopath-in-the-making in last year's We Need to Talk About Kevin to a much talked about turn in the upcoming The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the young actor is on the rise. We won't even go into the kind of teenage fandom attention he gets on the internet, but rest assured it's fanatical and sometimes involves the worshipping of his armpit hair. (Google it.)

In the latest issue of Paper magazine, Miller graces the cover in red lipstick, women's fall RTW, and red lipstick. Shot by Autumn de Wilde and styled by Shirley Kurata he dons everything from Comme des Garcons to Anna Sui and Creatures of the Wind. Cash Lawless styled his mass of black curls in variety of ways—coiffed updos, accessorized with plastic barrettes, or simply relaxed and unfettered. The results are arresting yet playful and both whimsical and serious at the same time.

Converse Says Shoes Are Boring

We're loving Converse's latest ad campaign which proudly proclaims: "Shoes are boring; wear sneakers." The brand juxtaposes these words with images of cars hoisting giant sculptures, graffiti come to life, and shots of a post-party dance floor—each with a pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars in the shot. Set designer Chime Serra was responsible for the unusual settings which feel spirited and carefree... just like the enduring sneakers themselves.

Model Ryan Bertroche Channels James Dean for 'Numero Homme China'

Typically, female models get numerous profiles and accolades when it comes to jaw-dropping fashion spreads. We have to hand it to issue #5 of Numéro Homme China, though, because their latest editorial featuring male model Ryan Bertroche is gasp-worthy for a number of reasons (some of which we can't post here). Channeling James Dean via a pumped-up pseudo pompadour by hairstylist Rob Talty, Bertroche poses in various pieces of leather. And, like we said, you should check them all out right here. In the meantime, we urge you to scroll...

Stylist Shirley Kurata Shares Her Personal Style

We love Shirley Kurata around these parts. Not only is she a mega-talented stylist who has worked with the likes of Rodarte, Beck, and Rilo Kiley, she's a master of her own style as documented by friend and photographer Autumn de Wilde. The blog, Daily Shirley, is a collaboration of sorts that sees De Wilde capture Kurata in her trademark rainbow-hued ensembles. We're OBSESSED and continually check it for new additions to both admire and emulate. How can you not be enchanted?

We're totally obsessed with Shirley's house, too. Check it out over on Refinery 29!

P!nk Shows Of New Retro Look for 'Billboard'

P!nk is back! The multiple No. 1 Billboard charting artist will release her sixth studio album, "The Truth About Love", on September 17, and the music mag is celebrating with a full cover story. Not only does P!nk grace the cover looking better than ever (post-pregnancy!) in sultry bombshell wear, she takes her trademark pink coif to a new level courtesy of Rob Talty, who brushed and curled it up to retro perfection. The corresponding photo shoot seems to channel a Marilyn Monroe-esque glamour featuring classic Hollywood makeup by Kathy Jeung. We CAN'T WAIT for this album! If the new video for "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" is anything to go by, it's going to be epic.

Deborah Lippmann Debuts Nail and Lip Duos

Barney's New York and manicurist Deborah Lippmann are duetting—with lipstick and nail polish sets that is! The special collections pair dual nudes or vibrant reds, and they will only available through Barney's for the month of August. The My Touch My Kiss collection includes I'm Every Woman lipstick in a sheer-mauve hue and Naked polish which is a creamy beige. Lippmann says, "This set is perfect for everyone, everyday. You can't go wrong with these modern nude tones that flatter all and complement any outfit. Naked tends to be my go-to nail shade for fashion shoots, and I'm Every Woman is a must-have color for your everyday wardrobe—once you try it, you'll always have to have it with you."

The My Love Notes gift set includes Let's Do It lipstick in sheer, pomegranate red and My Old Flame nail polish, which is a classic. Lippmann says, "The lip color offers a subtle approach to wearing a red lip—it's sheer with a beautiful glossy finish that is more approachable than other bold lip shades. The set creates a look that is modern and sexy but remains sophisticated and wearable."

Both duos are wearable for day or night and are only available for a limited time. GET ON IT!

Malin Akerman is an 'In Style' Lady in Red

We're nearing the end of the summer season, and with the cavalcade of fall looks inundating us in the form of new ads in September issues, it's harder to find inspiration for these remaining weeks of heat. We'd like to take a cue for evening from Malin Akerman. The actress turned heads at In Style's summer soiree in a bold red Cushnie et Ochs halter dress. Styled by Orlee, who added a matching Coach clutch, modern cocktail ring, and Tibi sandals, it's a look that is all about caliente cool.

Robert Vetica Flips for Amazon Fashion

Did you know that Amazon is going full-throttle with fashion? We're talking designer fashion territory here! The internet retail giant has signed deals with everyone from Michael Kors and Vivienne Westwood to Jack Spade and Tracy Reese for its new luxury affiliate, MYHABIT. With the tagline, "Smart is Beautiful," the brand hopes to capture the adoration of fashion savvy customers, and judging by their first offerings, this won't be difficult for them to do. We love the choice of Chanel Iman in the recent ads and are mad for her 1960s flip courtesy of hairstylist Robert Vetica.

Kate Moss is Mango's Fall 2012 Muse

Kate Moss is modeling again for Mango, this time for their autumn/winter 2012 collections. Posing with a somewhat defiant expression in the Spanish brand's trademark chic n' easy separates, it's hard not to be drawn to her delicately smokey eyes which come courtesy of makeup artist Wendy Rowe. With a grayish purple shading above and below the eye, the rest of the makeup palette consists of a creamy peach cheek and matte nude lips. We're starting to notice a trend here... bold smokey eyes and nude lips for fall! Having Kate as an inspiration doesn't hurt either.

'Love' Magazine Catches Nocturnal Moths

A moonlit forest full of ethereal beauties lounging amongst fronds and foliage—this is the setting for a mystical Love magazine fashion spread called "Nocturnal Moth Catching." Known for their esoteric approach to fashion, the latest issue captures fall's layered look on a bevy of beauties who seem like very contemplative woodland nymphs. The cinched bodices and voluminous skirts are enhanced by Max Bellhouse's darkened forest setting where the moon lights the moss and leaves rustle through oversized wheelchairs, antique wheelbarrows, and errant rope. It all makes for one mysterious nocturnal dream.

'In Style' September Issue Loves Jennifer Lopez

It's not difficult to proclaim your love for actress, singer, and multi-hyphenate, Jennifer Lopez. The former American Idol judge and current touring artist has had one heck of a year... one that saw all of America fall in love with her. We're assuming, this is why In Style couldn't resist running the phrase "We [Heart] Jennifer Lopez!" alongside her cover photo for their September issue. Looking absolutely stunning (as usual) the devoted mom and entrepreneur also opens up about starting over. The pictures have us captivated with stunning makeup by Mary Phillips who gave her smokey eyes, highlighted cheeks, and nude lips. It's all utterly GORGEOUS. We totally heart JLo, too!

Congratulations to Jewels Steger!

The Magnet Agency wishes to congratulate LA office agent Jewels Steger on her recent marriage to Chris Rosaasen. It was a very special day that saw the stunning bride walk down the aisle in a custom gown by stylist Johnny Wujek, hair by Lona Vigi, makeup by Melanie Inglessis, and set design by Chime Serra. We couldn't be happier for the bride and groom and wish them all the best in their new life together.

Congratulations, Jewels and Chris! From all of us at The Magnet Agency.

How to Get Deborah Lippmann's Polka Dot Manicure for Kate Spade

If there was ever a more apt motto for a company, it would have to be Kate Spade's philosophy, "Live Colorfully." The mega-retailer of spirited and sophisticated womenswear continues to expand its covetable handbags, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and clothing collections while maintaining an irreverent tip-of-the-hat to all things happy-making. When not infusing wardrobes with bold color or a dash of sparkle, they often turn to whimsical motifs and patterns while still maintaining a sense of femininity and elegance. For fall, the brand loves polka dots.

In the latest ad campaign, a simple palette of red, white, black, and beige in 1960s shapes is augmented by both a polka dot handbag and matching polka dot nails. Manicurist Deborah Lippmann created the polka mani and gave us the lowdown on how to recreate it...

"We started by shaping the nail to an almond shape—not sporty and not stiletto—a very wearable length. We used Fade to Black creme on the whole nail and let it dry. Once those coats were dry, sporadic, different-sized dots of I'm Not Innocent were added. The dots were created with the natural circular shape of the bottom of the brush, which acted as a shape guide for each dot. There was less lacquer than normal on each brush to avoid spilling or having too much polish on the nail. Once the dots were completely dry, Addicted To Speed Ultra Quick Dry Top Coat was added. When the models arrived we matched the nails and applied them to each girl."

You'd be dotty not to try it.

Katie Holmes Stars in New H. Stern Campaign

WOW!! It's hard not to exclaim—in all-caps and minus punchy punctuation, that is—when it comes to the new H. Stern ads featuring Katie Holmes. The glowing actress, mother, and burgeoning fashion magnate has had quite the summer, but she seems to have emerged triumphantly to tackle both her career and image in a new way. We love Holmes's sophisticated look for H. Stern, which features her draped in tonal diamonds. Shot by photographer Tom Munro, the flawlessly tanned beauty's features are enhanced by makeup artist Matthew VanLeeuwen, who went for a dramatic smokey eye, contoured cheeks, and a creme bronze lip. The results are stunning and truly capture a more mature side to the ever-evolving Holmes. We look forward to more of what's to come!

Ben Skervin Transforms Candice Swanepoel for 'Numero Tokyo'

The September issue of Numero Tokyo features cover model Candice Swanepoel looking every bit the glamorous vamp on the cover. The Victoria's Secret angel took on a more noirish look for the shoot, and hairstylist Ben Skervin gave us the goods when it came to the hair.

"The hair was inspired by the one and only Jerry Hall," Skervin says. He used mousse to give the hair "guts" (love this) when blow-drying and used a curling iron to curl the hair into rolls. He then pinned the curls and let them cool before brushing the hair into waves. Skervin adds, "It was my first time working with Candice. She was lovely, and it was fun turning her from an angel to a sexy vixen."

Stella McCartney's Relaxed Look in 'Harper's Bazaar'

Photo: Ed Ruscha for 'Harper's Bazaar'

In the September issue of Harper's Bazaar, Stella McCartney discusses her achievements as the working mother and mastermind behind a highly successful fashion company. Known for a relaxed attitude and ease of style, the portrait—shot by artist Ed Ruscha—accompanying the article echoes her innate, unfussy put-together-ness.

Hairstylist Rob Talty kept Stella's look fresh and natural by giving her a blow-out using a flat Mason Pearson brush and Oribe Foundation Mist, leaving the ends out to achieve some wave and texture. He sprayed a very minimal amount of Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray on the ends for added movement and finished with Oribe Impermeable Anti-humidity Hairspray. #LoveIt

A Peek Into the Azealia Banks 'Dazed & Confused' Cover

The Twitter-sphere lit up this week when Dazed & Confused tweeted that their upcoming September issue, featuring rapper Azealia Banks, had been banned in seven countries. And this is all before the magazine has even released an image of the cover!

Magnet artist Jill Nicholls was the set designer for the shoot, so we asked her to give us the on-set inside scoop...

Aside from originally intending to shoot Banks on a subway car with an entourage of people ("I found a subway car sawn in half," Nicholls's says), the team had to go another direction due to time constraints. Photographer Sharif Hamza decided to reference teen stars and their bedrooms instead.

"We decided to re-create what we thought would be a good representation of Azealia's bedroom [from] 15-17 years of age," Nicholls's says. "Photo references were hard to come by, so I went on photo images of Azealia from young to present—the area she was bought up in, LaGuardia High School, her family, etc."

The resulting Dazed spread recalls the teen dream bedrooms of '90s stars like Britney Spears and Drew Barrymore; it was built and dressed to express Banks's growing persona. "I collected images from Vibe mag—going back to the 80's—of her influences. From this, I created a wall mural that sprouted from the headboard of her bed outward." (Incidentally, Banks covers the current issue of Vibe). Music photographer Jonathan Mannion also donated some images from his archive including old magazines to tear up for the wall.

Rounding out the set are shelves covered in past loved cuddly toys with a mix of teenage-inspired hearts and skateboards. Nicholls also used fluorescent tape to draw doodles on the bed, an assortment of shiny wall stars, and false eyelashes to decorate the dressing table mirror. She also says she used a hodgepodge of candy such as Twizzlers, Gobstoppers, and lollipops.

The set was dressed the morning of the shoot, and other than a slight issue with a fellow female rapper on the mural that needed to be taken down (lips are sealed!), it all went as planned. No word on whether the "banned" content has any other countries in an uproar, but all will be revealed when the issue hits newsstands on August 16.
